USCIS received 172,500 H-1B applications

A few days ago reported that the H-1B visas available for fiscal year 2015 were exhausted.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) received approximately 172,500 applications within 7 days. Today, April 10, 2014, the agency conducted the lottery to select those who will receive visas.

Unsuccessful petitions will be rejected and returned to the petitioner, along with the fees charged. But if USCIS finds that someone submitted two or more petitions to increase their chances, which is not allowed, they will not refund the fees charged.
