Last notice: deadline to return work permits under DACA expires

Today is the deadline to return work permits valid for more than 2 years that were erroneously issued to DACA recipients.

This only affects those who received documents issued after February 16, 2015.

They have until the end of today to deliver those permits, which are no longer valid.

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCISA) warned that as of tomorrow, July 31, they will cancel DACA and employment authorization for individuals who do not return their permits.

This means that people who currently have legal status through Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) would become undocumented.

Below, you can watch an interview where he spoke about the problem on Telemundo's "Un Nuevo Día":

If you did not receive a letter asking you to return your work permit or you have one that is valid for 3 years and you still have doubts, you can check if you are entitled to return it in the following ways:

1. Telephone 1-800-375-5283 and press option 8.

2. Go to the website https://my.uscis.gov/daca_ead. On that page, you can enter your card number and USCIS number. In just a matter of seconds you will know whether or not to return the permit.
