Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) announced that on Monday, May 6, 2024, a new immigration court will open in Los Angeles, California. The new court will be called the West Los Angeles Immigration Court and there will be 12 immigration judges working in this court.
EOIR also announced that the Los Angeles - Olive Street Immigration Court will close on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at 4:30 p.m.
Cases assigned to the West Los Angeles Immigration Court and the Los Angeles - Olive Street Immigration Court will have an alternate filing location at the Santa Ana Immigration Court from April 18 through April 29, 2024.
On April 30, 2024, the West Los Angeles Immigration Court will begin receiving calls and files.
The West Los Angeles, North Los Angeles Street, or Van Nuys Boulevard Immigration Courts will receive cases currently assigned to the Los Angeles - Olive Street Immigration Court.
For all persons whose cases are reassigned, EOIR will formally notify them in advance.

Purpose of the West Los Angeles Immigration Court
The opening of the new West Los Angeles Immigration Court responds to EOIR's need to efficiently monitor and manage the nationwide immigration caseload, seeking to meet the needs of all involved in the immigration court process. The decision to establish new courts in high volume areas is a key effort to meet stakeholder demands and ensure a more streamlined and accessible court process for immigrants.
The EOIR strives to adjudicate immigration cases fairly, expeditiously and uniformly, reaffirming its mission to interpret and administer the nation's immigration laws under authority delegated by the Attorney General.
