New visa quotas go into effect

New quotas for immigrant and nonimmigrant visas went into effect on Friday, April 13, 2012. Fees for most nonimmigrant visa and border crossing card applications have increased, while fees for immigrant visa applications have decreased.

The fee reductions are non-refundable. If you paid the visa fee prior to April 13, 2012 and the fee has been reduced, there will be NO refund from the U.S. Department of State.

If your interview for a nonimmigrant visa is scheduled before July 13, 2012, you will not have to pay the difference between the new and old fee. After this date, you will have to pay any difference between the new and old fee. There will be no exceptions.
