Initiative seeks to protect immigrants from scams

Due to a series of complaints from immigrants about scams committed by Hispanics, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has developed a series of "fotonovelas" in Spanish to alert people to the problem.

The stories in the fotonovelas offer practical advice on how to identify and avoid common scams.

The FTC works to prevent fraudulent, deceptive and unfair business practices and provides information that can help identify, stop and prevent such practices.

To file a complaint in English or Spanish, visit the FTC's online Complaint Assistant page or call 1-877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357).

For free copies of the fotonovelas, visit www.ftc.gov/fotonovela.

You can also download the fotonovela on notarios and persons engaging in Unauthorized Immigration Law Practices to your computer. by clicking here.
