U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services increased from one to two years the validity period of initial employment authorization documents or renewals for individuals seeking asylum in the United States.
Immigrants with pending asylum applications must file Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, under category (c)(8).
The extension became effective on October 5, 2016.
This change applies to all applications under category (c)(8) pending as of that date and all applications filed on or after October 5, 2016.
