U.S. extends validity of tourist visas for Colombian nationals

The U.S. Department of State announced that it will extend the validity of visas for Colombians traveling temporarily to the U.S. from 5 to 10 years. This means that most Colombian applicants who qualify for a "B" category nonimmigrant visa could receive a 120-month visa with multiple entry authorization.

The great benefit of the visa extension is that Colombians who have qualified for a temporary visa to the U.S. will only have to apply to renew their visa once every 10 years.

Changes in visa reciprocity will have no effect on visa eligibility or security screening procedures. Visa applicants will be subject to the same eligibility standards for a U.S. visa as before the change in validity.

Approximately 577,000 Colombians visit the U.S. each year, according to figures provided by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
