E-Verify, immigration offices and courts resume operations following federal government reopening

The partial U.S. government shutdown is over. Most government offices that serve immigrants should be working normally today. All those with appointments and interviews should go to them unless the meeting is postponed by the government office with whom you have the appointment.

The E-Verify system is up and running. Also, the Office of Alien Labor Certification has resumed operations. This office has several functions including processing labor certification applications for foreign workers.

The immigration courts and the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) have resumed normal operations. However, non-detained persons hearings that were scheduled for today, October 17, 2013 will be rescheduled for a date in the future. Also, the immigration court will schedule new appointments for individuals who were not served during the partial government shutdown.
