California Legislature approves driver's licenses for undocumented immigrants

The California Senate and Assembly last night approved the bill AB 60which will allow undocumented immigrants to obtain driver's licenses in the state.

The bill now goes to Governor Jerry Brown, who must sign it into law.

According to the approved bill, the licenses for undocumented immigrants will be different from those issued to people who are legally in the country. They will have markings on the front and back of the document, indicating that it is not acceptable for federal purposes and will be for driving privileges only.

The governor said he would approve a license for undocumented immigrants with these tags. Brown has until Oct. 13 to sign the bill.
