The brother of well-known actress Sofia Vergara was deported to Colombia, his native country, due to his extensive criminal record. Julio Vergara, 34, was arrested more than 30 times over 10 years for marijuana and cocaine possession. In a recent interview, the actress shared that her brother has struggled with drug addiction problems since he arrived in the United States in 1998.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials have confirmed to El Nuevo Herald that Vergara was deported on May 9 of this year, because under immigration law being guilty of felony crimes makes you ineligible to stay in the country legally. Although Vergara was deported in May, the news was only released this week.
