U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced today that in the first week since the registration period opened on April 2, they have received 17,400 petitions for H-1B visas that count toward the 65,000 cap and another 8,200 that count toward the 20,000 quota dedicated to individuals with graduate degrees.
USCIS says it will provide updates on the processing status of FY 2013 H-1B petitions. These updates and other information will be available on the USCIS website.
If USCIS receives the number of petitions needed to meet the quota limit, it will notify the public by announcing when the "final receipt date" was.
