Lee Francis Cissna will be the new director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The U.S. Senate today confirmed Cissna with a vote of 54 in favor and 43 against.
USCIS has not yet indicated when Cissna will take the oath of office.
Cissna was nominated by President Donald Trump in April and the Judiciary Committee preliminarily approved his confirmation in June.
Cissna is currently the Director of Immigration Policy in the Office of Policy at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Previously, Cissna worked for USCIS in the Office of Chief Counsel.
Cissna will replace León Rodríguez, who resigned from his position in January of this year.
