EOIR to open new immigration court in Sterling, Virginia

Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) announced that on October 3, 2022, a new immigration court will open in Sterling, Virginia. There will be 19 immigration judges working in this court.

EOIR is sending official notices to all persons whose cases have been transferred to the Sterling Immigration Court that the hearing site has changed. After September 19, 2022, when some EOIR staff will be on site to prepare for the opening of the new court, you may contact them at 703-674-4600 if you have any questions about cases assigned to the new court.

Arlington Immigration Court employees can answer any questions about the new immigration court in Sterling, Virginia until September 16, 2022, if you call them at 703-603-1300. They can also check the status of your case at the online information system for immigration court cases of EOIR.

This year will be the second time an immigration court has opened in the District of Columbia metropolitan area to better serve the needs of individuals with matters before the immigration court. EOIR will continue to evaluate its caseload nationwide and will open new immigration courts as needed.
